Central Florida Commuter Rail

What's There Now - A Look At Planned Station Locations

DeLand Station

2491 Old New York Avenue

The DeLand station is to be located west of downtown DeLand in an area that still retains its rural characteristics.  There is an active Amtrak station at the site which was built in 1935 and restored in 1988.  Across the tracks is a former fair grounds presently used as a base for the Cole Brothers circus.  The primary east-west thoroughfare, (New) New York Avenue, also know as State Route 44, bypasses the station to the north.

Plans are to integrate the Commuter Rail station with the existing Amtrak station, placing a 184 car parking lot to the east.  Transit Oriented Development is planned for a large parcel east of the rail line and north of Old New York Avenue.

There a a few businesses located on the south side of New York Avenue in the vicinity of the station location, including a popular local meeting place, The Inn Between Bar.

The Deland Station will be included in Phase II construction with opening projected for 2013.
